David “Dave” Q. Smith, 88 of Lambertville, MI, and formerly of Toledo, OH, died Sunday, July 31, 2016.  Born June 8, 1928, in Toledo, OH, he was the son of Christian and Minnie (Moore) Smith.  He married Dolores M. Besase on May 27, 1950 in Gesu Catholic Church.  Dave was employed for 36 years by the Chrysler Corporation (Jeep) in salvage repair and a union steward, retiring in 1990. He enjoyed golfing with his sons on the Jeep league and with his cousin, Noah Broadway at Cherrywood Golf Course, where he got a hole in one on May 21, 1998.  He also enjoyed yard work, working on cars,  and traveling and gambling in Las Vegas. Dave loved to cook with his wife, and together, they participated in a local charity “Meals on Wheels” for a chili cook off and won 1st place 3 years in a row.

Dave is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dolores; sons, Rick (Billie) and David (Brenda) Smith; sister, Imogene Lay; grandchildren, Chad (Krista), David, Rick (Amanda), and Sara Smith, Brittany  Gorno, Michael (Ashley) and Joe Thomas, and Danell Vern) Bell and many great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandy Thomas and 12 brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be from 3-8 pm Thursday, August 4, 2016, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, August 5, 2016.  Fr. James Auth, officiating.  Entombment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.  Memorial may be made to Mobile Meals of Toledo.
